33 YEARS ASSOCIATION FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL SCIENCES research, spanning from 1985 to 2018, offers a comprehensive overview of primary prevention strategies for sexual violence. We examined the main theoretical approaches to prevention, highlighting three key interventions that characterize the primary prevention efforts of their respective eras. A common thread in these interventions is their focus on altering attitudes, beliefs, and knowledge to reduce sexual violence. However, our meta-analysis reveals that while many interventions successfully change these "ideas," they do not lead to corresponding behavioral changes. There is little to no correlation between changes in attitudes, beliefs, and knowledge and a reduction in victimization or perpetration.
We also noted trends over time, including a shift from targeting perpetration reduction to encouraging bystander intervention. We conclude by suggesting new methods for measuring victimization and perpetration, and advocate for interventions that are grounded in theories of behavior change, with a clear focus on sexually violent behavior as the primary outcome.

Our experience from extreme violence inflicted on the Iranian women by the Ayatollahs of Iran led us to believe that each act of violence or aggression against a single woman/girl, whether unintentional or intentional, reinforces the societal dominance of all men, even those who were not involved in that specific act. Conversely, this also leads to increased terror and intimidation for all women in society, regardless of whether they were directly targeted.
